- CD/DVD ROM Drive - This is an optical device for reading CD's and DVD's, you may ask why this is an essential part of a computer system and the answer is simple...you usually need to install the Operating System from a CD or DVD before you can use the computer! This usually requires a Hard Drive lead to connect to the Main Board.
- CPU - Central Processing Unit, this is the brain of the computer system.
- Hard Drive - This is the storage device for the computer, usually holding all information about the system within itself. This would require a Hard Drive lead to connect to the MainBoard.
- Keyboard - Used to enter your textual information into your computer system.
- Main Board - or Motherboard, this is where everything interconnects and works as one unit.
- Memory - For the computer to remember what it's doing for you, it must have memory to function.
- Monitor - This is the screen where all information is display that you work with.
- Mouse - Used to guide your pointer around the screen and to assist the user to find their way around the screen and special functions.
- Operating System - This is the software that usually runs the PC, and no computer runs without an OS!
- Power Leads - Well, how else would you power up the computer!
- PSU - Power Supply Unit, this provides all the power to the complete PC system.
